Make a copy of the google slide deck to add, edit or divide the project into manageable steps. The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1YzuAUk7BPjYP6iXx4UH1ZwDo3mrJ-lLXAwlXmdM1JFM\/edit?tab=t.0\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Project Guide<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is also helpful for a streamlined version of the contest steps. These resources are optional to complete.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inform families that your class is participating in the project and prepare applicable <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldof8billion.org\/video-contest\/consent-forms\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">student permission forms<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Researching and Planning Videos<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Connect the video contest to your student\u2019s personal lives, class content, and collaborate with colleagues for deeper cross curricular connections.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Review the World of 8 Billion student video contest <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldof8billion.org\/video-contest\/tips-for-your-video\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tips for creating a video<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and watch <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/286374024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7 Most Common Mistakes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> video on what to avoid when creating videos.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bring in outside experts if you can to help students build skills. For example, one of our teacher presenters had an expert come in to help students develop an elevator pitch for a clear and focused message.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check out the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldof8billion.org\/video-contest\/getting-started\/#topics\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">background readings<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to help students get started researching their topic.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another teacher presenter shared that it is important to \u201cmake text accessible to readers of all levels and support diverse language learners with supplemental sources to help them gain understanding and background knowledge.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Filming and Editing Student Videos<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Watch the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldof8billion.org\/winners-2024\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">past winners<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to gather ideas for filming, editing, and inspiration.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make video creation accessible for all students.
