2. Collection and Use of Personal Information
Population Education uses the Site to provide a means for students to submit entries to a student video contest. In order to submit a video for consideration, students must provide certain personal information, including name, grade, school name and address, email and phone number. This personal information is only used by Population Education staff to verify student eligibility for the contest and to communicate with students during the contest period from submission through the judging process. If a student’s video is selected as a finalist, the student must provide additional personal information, including date of birth, home address, and the name and email of a parent or guardian. A photo will be requested but is not required. This personal information is only used by Population Education staff to confirm student eligibility for being selected as a winner and to communicate with students during the finalist and winner announcement period.

4. Web Data and Cookies
In addition to your personal information, Population Education may also collect standard Web server traffic pattern information generated by your use of the Site. General traffic, site usage, and length-of-stay information may be collected and stored in log files for the purpose of improving the user experience. This type of information is shared externally only on an aggregated basis.

6. Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy
Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. We collect or maintain information at the Site from persons under age 16 only for the limited purposes of allowing interested students to submit entries for the Student Video Contest and to access other educational content. All students from outside of the U.S. must obtain consent or authorization of a parent or guardian before entering the contest or entering any personal information. This consent is provided to Population Education via the Consent Form for International Students that can be attached to the electronic submission form. Students in the U.S. that are in middle school or under the age of 13 must obtain the consent or authorization of a parent or guardian before entering the contest or entering any personal information. This consent is provided to Population Education via the Consent Form for U.S. Students in Middle School or Under 13 that can be attached to the electronic submission form. Students selected as finalists for the Student Video Contest must submit the Student Video Contest Finalist Video Release – Parent/Guardian Form signed by a parent or guardian in order to be eligible to be selected as a winner. Winners of the Student Video Contest will be posted on the Site, including the winning video submission and the student’s name and school. We may also use winners’ names, photographs, statements, quotes, testimonials, and video submissions for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes. Other student personal information will be kept private and not disclosed to any third party.
Any person who provides Personal Information through this Site represents to us that he or she is 16 years of age or older, or has obtained the consent or authorization of a parent or guardian. If Population Education learns that personal information has been collected from a user under 16 years of age on or through this Site without the consent or authorization of a parent or guardian, then Population Education will take the appropriate steps to cause this information to be deleted.
7. Storage and Retention of Personal Information

Data provided on the contest entry form, consent form, permission form and finalist form by users that were selected as finalists or winners will be saved on Population Education’s secure server. Data provided by other users on the contest entry form or participation consent form is stored for one year following the contest on a backup server.
